How Hand Engraving Works
After doing calligraphy for a while, engraving was the natural next step for me to elevate my skill set. Using my microdrill I am able to create almost any design on a variety of surfaces ( glass, metal, stone, wood, leather, and some plastics)
Steps:
The surface is cleaned and sketched with a draft of the message or design, using Stabilo Pencils, Micron Pen, or a Paint Marker
Using the microdrill, the surface is elegantly engraved, with the design
Using a brush, the dust particles produced during this process are removed and area cleaned
A gilding wax (gold or silver) is then applied to the design. *Please note that with some surfaces a gilding wax cannot be applied, but there are always alternatives.*
Enjoy your new item! Your item is now permanently etched with the chosen message and / or design that can be admired and cherished
